A relative newbie to the recumbent scene, I find I enjoy thinking about, designing, and building recumbent bikes almost as much as riding them. I am an aging, irregular, cyclist who likes to ride as fast as I am able, but has never raced in a competition and realises I am never going to break any records. I live in an area with quite a lot of hills and enjoy climbing as much as going as fast as possible downhill. So the main goal of my recumbent building activities is to create a fast, good handling bike that climbs well and is sufficiently practical for everyday riding on public roads. This perhaps sets me apart from many home builders whose blogs/builds I follow with interest, who uncompromisingly seek speed in a racing/track context. My home builds are also characterised by being ultra-low budget, and generally botched together from bits and bobs found in the local rubbish dump.
